The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has raised concerns about the Presidency’s “Infrastructure Equity” report, questioning the accuracy of listed projects and urging President Bola Tinubu’s administration to ensure transparency in nationwide project distribution.
In a statement on Tuesday, ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi accused the report of reinforcing suspicions of exclusionary governance and misleading the public with manipulated information.
The controversy follows a Daily Trust report claiming that Lagos State received ₦3.9 trillion in projects over two years, suggesting favoritism toward the Southwest. The Presidency, through Special Adviser Sunday Dare, dismissed the report as sensational, arguing that infrastructure is broadly distributed across all regions. A subsequent official project list claimed the North received more projects than the South.
The ADC countered that the government’s report appeared more like propaganda than accountability. It highlighted multiple errors, including roads in the North-East and North-Central being mislabeled as North-West projects, and some projects being listed twice. It also noted that several projects were initiated under the Buhari administration but presented as new achievements under Tinubu.
The party accused the government of violating the Procurement Act, awarding contracts to political allies, and favoring certain regions while stalling projects in opposition strongholds. ADC demanded full disclosure of project costs, contracts, and implementation details.
“This government has repeatedly shown a preference for selective disclosure, from political appointments to infrastructure reporting, undermining national inclusion and competence,” the statement said.
ADC concluded that no amount of propaganda can replace fairness, transparency, and unity, warning that continued inequity would erode the administration’s legitimacy.
