The National Orientation Agency, NOA, is set for a nationwide sensitisation campaign on government policies, programmes, activities, national values, and national security awareness, NAN reported.

The Director-General (DG), Lanre Issa-Onilu, said this on Wednesday, August 27, in Kaduna.

Mr Issa-Onilu was represented by Olorunfemi Olubukola, the director of Community Outreach and Development, NOA Headquarters, Abuja.

He said the campaign, which would cover 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory and the 774 local government areas, aims to engage the public and provide clarity on government programmes and policies.

He noted that the agency had expanded its message platforms to meet the diverse needs of its audience, including a website, an artificial intelligence persona, and a social media presence.

The DG said that the agency would physically engage the public in various communities, enabling them to ask questions and get answers on government programmes and policies.

He said that the campaign would focus on five thematic areas: government programmes, flood mitigation, national security awareness, national values reorientation, and the Nigerian Identity Project.

Mr Issa-Onilu highlighted the importance of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, which had disbursed over N59 billion to over 600,000 students, and the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund, designed for the renovation of 700 rural schools nationwide.

“The National Youth Investment Fund has also dedicated N110 billion to support 150,000 youths across the country.

“The agency will reach no less than three million Nigerians per state through media engagement, market and motor park rallies, town hall meetings, and advocacy visits to traditional and religious leaders,” he said.

The NOA DG emphasised the importance of national security awareness, saying that the Armed Forces were deploying strategies aimed at tackling security challenges, including the use of drones, armoured vehicles, and surveillance technologies.

He called on the public to take note of early warning advice from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, on flood mitigation and adhere to it.

He highlighted the importance of national value reorientation and the Nigerian Identity and National Symbols Sensitisation, initiated to familiarise the public with the current National Anthem and promote unity and patriotism.

Mr Issa-Onilu noted that the agency was committed to engaging the public and providing clarity on government programmes and policies, promoting transparency and accountability in governance.

He called on the public to participate in the campaign and take advantage of the opportunities provided by government programmes and policies.

Earlier, the Director of NOA, Kaduna Directorate, Nuhu Makama, said the campaign would enhance public awareness and understanding of government programmes and policies in the state.

He restated the agency’s commitment to continue working tirelessly to ensure that the public is well-informed about government programmes and policies.
