The Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has approved immediate intervention works at the State College of Science and Technology located in Nung Ukim, Ikono Local Government Area.
Speaking at the Ikono/Ini Town Square Meeting held at Ibiaku Ntok Okpo, on Thursday, August 21, the Governor directed the Commissioner for Education to visit the school to ascertain the things needed to facilitate accreditation for the programmes of the school.
Responding to requests by stakeholders in the area, the Governor said the school could either be maintained as a
College of Science and Technology, or be converted to a campus of the Akwa Ibom State University, and asked stakeholders of the area to decide on which option will best serve their interest.
He received the needs document of the Federal Constituency and assured that they will be accommodated in the 2026 budget based on the availability of funds.
