In line with his vision to create more jobs and improve livelihoods, Governor Umo Eno has approved the award of 357 new projects across Ministries, Departments and Agencies in Akwa Ibom State.
The intervention, the reporter gathered, will open fresh jobs, strengthen businesses, and empower youths and contractors in Akwa Ibom State.
The decision was taken during yesterday’s meeting of the State Executive Council held at Government House, Uyo, and made public in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah.
According to the release, the projects were processed through the state’s procurement portal to ensure transparency, with a focus on engaging qualified youths and indigenous businesses.
While reaffirming his administration’s resolve to put money in the hands of ordinary citizens, the State Chief Executive urged Akwa Ibom people to take advantage of emerging opportunities. He added that the commitment is In line with his ARISE Agenda for job creation and inclusive growth.
The Council also reviewed over 771 kilometres of ongoing and proposed roads spread across the 31 local government areas. The Commissioner for Works, Prof Eno Ibanga was directed to work with the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning to align fresh demands harvested during the recent Federal Constituency Town Hall Meetings with the 2026 estimates, tagged ‘The People’s Budget.’
“This is to ensure equity in project distribution and that no community is left behind,” the statement explained.
EXCO also ratified progress on the proposed 350-bed Ibom International Hospital, describing it as a landmark facility that will boost healthcare delivery and reduce medical tourism.
Other highlights of the meeting included approval for a forthcoming State Power Summit to consolidate energy sector reforms, as well as steps to check illegal mining activities through a newly constituted monitoring committee.
Governor Eno, who presided over the session, charged members of Council to redouble efforts towards actualising his development blueprint, assuring Akwa Ibom people that his government will remain focused on projects that directly impact their lives.
