Ibom Air has been crowned the “Best Nigerian Airline of the Year” at the 2025 Travellers Awards for its “exceptional quality service and on-time performance”. This is the 4th consecutive year, the Akwa Ibom State-owned airline, would emerge as the top airline in Nigeria, following it winnings in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Aside the “Best Airline in Nigeria” category, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, will receive the “Aviation Man of the Year” award for his transformative reforms in the aviation sector..

Keyamo’s achievements include resolving 98% of $850 million trapped airline funds, expanding Bilateral Air Services Agreements, and improving Nigeria’s aviation safety rating from 40% to 80%.

Governor Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State will be recognised as the “Tourism Governor of the Year” for his investments in tourism infrastructure, sustainable development initiatives, and cultural promotion, which have significantly boosted Ekiti’s profile as a leading West African destination.

Other notable winners include Qatar Airways as the “International Airline of the Year”, Ethiopian Airlines as both the “African Airline of the Year” and “African Cargo Airline of the Year”, and Turkish Airlines as the “International Cargo Airline of the Year”.

The awards ceremony promises to be a grand celebration of excellence in the industry, with several other notable personalities and organisations being honored for their outstanding contributions.

The awards ceremony, organised by Akwaaba African Travel Market, is set to take place on September 14, 2025, and will honour outstanding achievements in Nigeria’s travel, tourism, aviation, and hospitality industries.
