The Ethical and Attitudinal Reorientation Commission, EARCOM of Akwa Ibom State has thrown its weight behind the decision by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, that airline operators consider appointing Ms. Comfort Emmanson, as an ambassador for good passenger conduct.

Speaking as a guest on the radio current affairs programme, The Press Hub on Montage 99.7 FM, Abuja, Board member of EARCOM, Rev. Osondu Ahirika, PhD said the move is corrective and a positive strategy of leveraging on the unfortunate event for ethical and attitudinal reorientation

Dr Ahirika observed that everyone deserves a second chance in life to get things right after grievous mistakes or failure and start again with a better mindset and imbibing the right values that can energise positive change, arguing that every Saint has a past and every sinner who repents and shuns social vices has a decent future.

He however lauded Ibom Air for winning the best. Airline operator in Nigeria yet again for rendering excellent services in the aviation industry, even as he charged Ms. Comfort Emmanson to take advantage of the opportunity for self-reflection, character reevaluation, social rebranding and refrain from mismanaging her momentum or clout chasing, having apologised for the incident

Recall that the Ibom Air passenger, Ms Comfort Emmanson was recently released from prison following government intervention and the withdrawal of the airline’s complaint against her, while the Minister in a statement via his verified X handle, Keyamo said the role ambassadorial is being considered for Emmanson, and for Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as KWAM, who was equally involved in a different Airport altercation with Valuejet airline operators.

Dr Ahirika justified the appointment which is however voluntary and without financial benefits as a proactive initiative to turn evil for good through mindset change, ethical reset, attitudinal transformation and civic education to become a reformed agent of change and socially responsible.

EARCOM however tasked citizens, especially Airline passengers to learn lessons from the ugly incident and avoid a repeat of such by complying with safety guidelines, terms and conditions that apply when boarding an aircraft or doing business around the high-risk security zones such as airports while applying social intelligence in their general disposition to public conduct and human relations.
