President Tinubu Departs For Japan, Brazil Visits

President Bola Tinubu, who was initially scheduled to leave Abuja on Thursday for a two-nation visit to Japan and Brazil, departed on Friday at 11:15 a.m. local time. No reason was given for the change in his travel plans.



A statement from the State House says the President will stop over in Dubai before heading to Yokohama, Japan, for the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development, TICAD9, from August 20 to 22.

The meeting will focus on Africa’s economic transformation, improving business environments, and promoting peace and stability.

President Tinubu will also hold bilateral talks and meet Japanese company executives investing in Nigeria.

From Japan, he will travel to Brasilia for a two-day state visit from August 24 to 25, at the invitation of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, to hold talks, attend a business forum, and witness the signing of agreements between both countries.
