The Akwa Ibom State Council Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Nsibiet John on Friday August 15, 2025, took a tour of facilities within the Union.
Comrade John on his first official assignment in office along with other members of the State Working Committee of the Union, ascertained the state of facilities within the premises.
The recently commissioned Patience Umo Eno Hall, office building, electric power house and the security post formed part of the facilities the Chairman toured.
Speaking after the inspection, the Chairman promised to consolidate on what he met on ground while also promising to give the union a befitting facelift.
In a related development, the Chairman gave a standing order on security to be tightened within the Union’s premises to ensure adequate protection of the Union’s properties.
The Chairman had earlier in the day held an inaugural meeting with members of the State Working Committee of the Union before proceeding with an enlarged meeting with members of the State Executive Council.
Comrade John who was overwhelming voted into office earlier this month also played host to union members who came on a courtesy visit to him in his office.
Speaking exclusively to journalists after the tour of facilities, Nsibiet John assured union members that his administration will meticulously fulfill all his campaign promises while promising to leave the union better than he met it.
Accompanying the Chairman were the Vice Chairman, Mrs Margaret Moore, the Secretary, Comrade Nsikak Esenowo and other Union Leaders.
