The All Progressives Congress, APC, says it is expecting the governors of Enugu and Abia states to defect from their current political parties and join the ruling party.

This was made known by the National Vice Chairman of APC in the Southeast, Ijeomah Ijeomah Arodiogbu, during a television interview on Wednesday, July 30.

He stated that information reaching him suggests that Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Governor Alex Otti of Abia, who is currently in the Labour Party, LP, may soon cross over to the APC.

He dismissed claims by the African Democratic Congress, ADC, that both governors are aligning with their coalition.

According to Arodiogbu, there has been no genuine discussion between the ADC and the two governors, and the statements made by the party are only tactics to attract attention.

Arodiogbu spoke while appearing on TVC, where he said that the APC is open to welcoming the governors if they decide to join.

“The other ones that are in Labour and PDP, Enugu and Abia, we are expecting them to join our ranks, from what I hear, and I don’t think they have any positive discussion with ADC,” he said.
