The Senator representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, Sampson Ekong, has commended President Bola Tinubu for facilitating timely promotions in the Nigeria Police Force.

He gave the commendation in Abuja on Wednesday, July 30, at a reception held in honour of the newly promoted Commissioner of Police, Uduak Ita

The event followed the decoration ceremony conducted by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on Monday at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Describing her elevation as a “vindication of merit and hard work,” Ekong said CP Ita’s promotion symbolises growing recognition for women in leadership roles across the country.

He said, ““I want to thank President Bola Tinubu for this elevation. This is a vindication for hard work, this is a vindication for merit. I also thank the police. Her elevation is a well-deserved one.

“This is the season for women as we all know this country is celebrating. We are in a joyous mood because of the glory that women have brought to us. If you watch the Falcons, our young girls perform in Morocco a few days ago you will agree that this is the time for women. So, I want to salute our women for your distinction. CP Uduak is a professional who is ready to achieve very high in her chosen career.

The Senator urged Ita and others to continue to justify her promotion through commitment to duty.

Assistant Inspector General of Police , in charge of Zone 7, Victor Olaiya, described the promotion as well-deserved.

Olaiya advised CP Uduak Otu Ita to continue to make the police proud by performing her duties.

He attested to the hard work of Otu, saying that they both worked together for several years.

Olaiya said, “Today is indeed a historical day. Historical in the sense that in a lifetime of anyone who is in this organization (Police) it comes once in a lifetime. And that is why it is indeed historic. Yes, we call it exhorted because it only comes from above. That rank is one rank that when you get there you can now fly a flag on your official vehicle, that is the dream of everyone wearing this uniform to fly that flag. Finally, she arrived in that position”.

In her remarks, Ita expressed gratitude to God and the Police Force.

“Becoming a Commissioner of Police is not the making of man. We started with about 250 officers, lost nearly 70 along the way, but I’m still standing. It can only be God,” she said.

She pledged to continue serving the country with dedication and professionalism.
