The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, on Monday, July 28, decorated 28 newly promoted senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the event took place at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Those decorated include 12 officers elevated from the rank of Commissioner of Police to Assistant Inspector-General of Police and 16 officers promoted from Deputy Commissioner of Police to CP. The promotions were recently approved by the Police Service Commission following a recommendation by the IGP.

In his address, the police boss noted that the promotion exercise was part of a broader welfare initiative under his leadership, which has seen the fastest and most extensive wave of promotions in the history of the Force.
IGP Egbetokun also congratulated the officers and urged them to adopt innovative strategies in discharging their duties.
He emphasised the importance of strengthening community partnerships, gaining public trust, and upholding the rights of citizens.

He said, “These promotions are not just a recognition of past achievements, but a call to greater service. As leaders within the Force, you must be committed to ethical conduct and professional excellence.”
Among the newly promoted AIGs are Emmanuel Adegbola Aina, Enyinnaya Adiogu, Ronke Nurat Okunade, Johnson Oluwole Adenola, Hassan Audu Yabanet, Chinedu Oko, Aminu Baba Raji, Omolara Oloruntola, Akoh Benedict Gabriel, Tijani Ahmadu Abdullahi (rtd), Mohammed Usman, and Bretet Emmanuel.
The officers promoted to the rank of CP include Sheik Mohammed Danko, Abiola Reuben Olutunde, Charles Dike, Victor Erivwode, Nnanna Oji Ama, Michael Falade, Yakubu Dankaro, Gabriel Elaigwu, Emefile Tony Osifo, Umar Ahmed Chuso, Aina Adesola, Uduak Ita, Sylvester Edogbanya, Musa Muhammed Sani, Omoikhudu Philip, and Innocent Anagbado.
Dignitaries at the ceremony included Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Oyewunmi Olalere; a member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Obi Aguoda, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, Executive Secretary, Police Trust Fund, Femi Mohammed Sheidu, members of the Force Management Team, serving and retired senior police officers, and family members of the newly promoted officers.
