Northern Ethnic Youth Group Assembly, NEYGA, has launched a scathing attack on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, urging her to cease “fingering” Senate President Godswill Akpabio in her ongoing woes and instead confront what they term her “national security problem.” This stern admonition comes in the wake of Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recent passport seizure, an incident she publicly attributed to the influence of the Senate President.
In a strongly worded statement signed by Alhaji Dan-Musa Ibrahim, NEYGA asserted that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s present predicament is a direct consequence of her own actions on the international stage. The group specifically referenced her conduct at the United Nations Female Assembly and her interviews with BBC News and Sky News, claiming these appearances constituted a deliberate affront to the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. “By now, she should know that her action at the United Nation Female Assembly, her conduct in BBC News and Skye News against the sovereignty of Federal Republic of Nigeria has posed her against the Nation,” the statement declared.
NEYGA further emphasized that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s inability to substantiate her allegations against the Nigerian state has only exacerbated her difficulties. They posited that her passport seizure at the airport is not a personal vendetta orchestrated by Akpabio but rather a legitimate matter of national security. “The group states that Natasha inability to provide evidence to substantiate her allegation further compounded her woe and that her passport seizure at the airport is purely that of National Security matters and has nothing to do with the Senate President,” Ibrahim elaborated.
The statement did not shy away from accusing Akpoti-Uduaghan of a pattern of behavior designed to tarnish Akpabio’s image.
NEYGA contended that the Kogi Central Senator appears to derive perverse pleasure from invoking Akpabio’s name, even for trivial matters. “It’s now obvious that the embattled Senator derives pleasure in mentioning Akpabio name, even her car fuel finish on the road, Akpabio is responsible,” the group quipped, highlighting what they perceive as an obsessive fixation.

NEYGA also referenced an alleged incident on the National Assembly premises where Akpoti-Uduaghan reportedly “organized some thugs and kept insulting the person of Senate President and left without any challenges.” The group interpreted Akpabio’s restrained response to this alleged provocation as a testament to his “leadership quality” and that of the broader National Assembly leadership. They suggested that Akpabio’s refusal to be drawn into a public fracas underscores his maturity and commitment to decorum.
Finally, NEYGA issued a direct appeal to media organizations, cautioning them against being manipulated by Akpoti-Uduaghan’s narrative. They urged the press to exercise discernment and refrain from amplifying “unsubstantiated allegations” made against the person of Akpabio, thereby preventing the dissemination of potentially misleading information to the public. The group’s strong words underscore a clear intent to defend the Senate President and reframe the narrative surrounding Akpoti-Uduaghan’s current challenges as a matter of national security rather than political persecution.
