Akwa Ibom Police Arrests Armed Suspect With Police Paraphernalia

Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a suspect with police uniforms and other paraphernalia.

This information was contained in a Press Release issued on Friday, July 25, 2025 and signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO DSP Timfon John.

The statement reads: “Operatives of the state Command of the Nigerian police, have conducted an intelligence-led surveillance and anti-crime patrol operation targeting known hotspots within their Area of Responsibility (AOR).

“At approximately 12:05 am, the patrol team intercepted one Iniobong Ezekiel Sunday, a male resident of Adiasim Ikot Eko Village in Ini LGA.

“A search of his bag revealed a cache of concerning items, including:

* One locally made pistol

* One blue police uniform with a name tag identifying “EKPENYONG ATTE” and Force Number 062763, bearing the rank of Sergeant

* One black police uniform

* Police photographs

* A pair of police badges

* An Inspector rank and file lanyard

* A bicycle

* Several credentials
bearing the name “UKPONG HELINA TOM”



“The suspect, Iniobong Ezekiel Sunday is currently undergoing profiling as investigations continue,” DSP John said.

“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command commends the vigilance and swift action of its Officers in apprehending this suspect and seizing dangerous items and police paraphernalia. This operation underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and eradicating criminal elements from our communities. “

A statement by the PPRO further said that information will be released as the investigation progresses.
