The Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency and Chairman, Public Procurement Committee of the House of Representatives, Rep. Unyime Idem, has been honoured with the Blueprint Newspaper Legislator of the Year Award.

According to the Blueprint Newspaper, a renowened national daily, the award, which follows a review of the activities of the lawmaker for the year 2024, is in recognition of his “exemplary contributions and significant impact to the development of the country.”

Presenting the award on behalf of Blueprint Newspaper during the Impact Series/Awards Ceremony at Abuja Continental Hotel, the Emir of Nupe, Alhaji (Dr.) Yahaya Abubakar CFR, (Etsu Nupe) congratulated the federal lawmaker for scooping the coveted prize, describing him as not just a leader, but “one who is leaving a mark by creating sustainable legacies.”

On his part, Rep. Idem appreciated Blueprint Newspaper for tracking his modest achievements in the year under review and honouring him with the award, and applauded the medium for putting together such grand event.

Idem promised that the award will propel him to do more for his constituents, Akwa Ibom state and the federation.

Chaired by the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, the Impact Series/Awards Ceremony also had state Governors and Deputies, Ministers and other members of the Federal Executive Council, National Assembly members, including the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, among other notable figures, who were recognized for showing exemplary leadership, innovation in governance, policy clarity, and transformational impact across Nigeria’s public and private sectors.

The event also featured a keynote lecture, which was delivered by former INEC chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, who is now the Special Adviser to the President and National Coordinator of the Presidential Livestock Reform Initiative, on the theme, “Exploring the Potentials of Livestock Exports in Nigeria,” a subject carefully selected to reflect current national priorities around economic diversification, rural revitalisation and food security.
