A purported West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result allegedly belonging to the Governor of Edo State has surfaced online, showing a controversial D7 grade in one of the core subjects, Naija News House reported.
This development came less than 24 hours after the governor’s widely criticized declaration barring the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, from entering or holding any political activity in Edo State.
The timing of the leaked result has sparked public outrage and online mockery, with many Nigerians interpreting it as a form of digital backlash following the governor’s perceived undemocratic stance.

While official verification of the WAEC result remains pending, critics have seized on the opportunity to question the academic credibility and leadership competence of the governor, especially in light of his attempt to silence opposition figures.

Political analysts describe the episode as a reminder of how personal records can swiftly become public flashpoints in Nigeria’s volatile political climate—especially when actions perceived as suppressive or authoritarian are involved.
As of press time, the Edo State Government has not issued a formal statement either confirming or denying the authenticity of the WAEC document.
