Gov Eno Directs Compliance with Public Holiday in Honour of Late President Buhari

The Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has directed full compliance with the Tuesday, July 15, 2025 public holiday declared by the Federal Government, as part of the seven-day national mourning period following the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.

In a statement issued on Monday, the State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah, said the Governor has directed the observance of the public holiday across Akwa Ibom State as a mark of respect and solemn reflection on the life and legacy of the former Nigerian leader.

He further said the holiday aligns with the national directive by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who declared the mourning period in honour of his predecessor.


Government offices, institutions, and residents of Akwa Ibom State are enjoined to observe the day with dignity and reverence in memory of the late former President.

“May his soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.
