The 2023 governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, in Akwa Ibom State, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, has called on Akwa Ibom people to support the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the coming 2027 elections.

Senator Akpanudoedehe said this in a letter addressed to ‘My Dear Brothers And Sisters Of Akwa Ibom State’ and dated July 3, 2025.
Dr Akpanudoedehe, PhD, a Pastor and former national secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had announced his resignation from the NNPP in a letter dated June 30, to the chairperson of the party in his ward in Uyo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom.
His letter reads in parts: “The ADC, which was unveiled at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja yesterday (Wednesday, July 2, 2025) is not just a political party but a platform that provides us with ample opportunity to move our dear state in the new direction that beckons; a platform of great minds committed to real change which the generality of Nigerians have embraced as the new way forward.”

He called on all Akwa Ibomites, men and women, young and old, to join the ADC in their numbers as the reality is that no individual or group of individuals are bigger than our dear state.
Dr Akpanudoedehe said: “Back here there was a time many Akwa Ibomites scoffed a those, like me, who led the formation of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and brought it to the state.
“Our vision was proved when ACN became one of the legacy parties that metamorphosed to become the All Progressive Congress (APC).
“Ironically, those who scoffed at our vision at the time are the very ones that have now lapped up the APC as the next best thing after bread and butter,” he said.

Finally, he called on all to visit their communities, villages, wards and cities to register in what he described as, “this natural coalition which does not prioritize region or religion and whose main objective is to rescue our dear Akwa Ibom State and our great country, Nigeria.”
