The United States, U.S President Donald Trump announced Tuesday, July I, night that Israel has agreed to a 60-day ceasefire with Hamas, marking what could be a turning point in the long-running conflict in Gaza.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, President Trump revealed that the deal was brokered with help from Qatar and Egypt, both of whom will be tasked with delivering the final proposal to Hamas.

“The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring Peace, will deliver this final proposal,” Trump said. “I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE.”

He stated that the United States will use the ceasefire period to coordinate with regional actors and work toward a more permanent resolution to the war.

Israeli officials have not yet commented publicly on Trump’s claim.
