The Akwa Ibom governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has charged corps members to fully integrate with their host communities and respect their socio-cultural inclination and aspirations.
Governor Eno stated this on Tuesday, July 1, at the closing ceremony of the 2025 National Youth Service Corps Batch A Stream II, at the orientation camp in Nsit Atai Local Government Area.
The governor who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development Effiong Nicholas, the governor tasked the corps members to discharge their duties with diligence, dedication and serve as good ambassadors of the nation while contributing meaningfully to nation building.
“Please be asured that Akwa Ibom State is highly hospitable, you only need to integrate yourselves with the people, be respectful to their socio-cultural inclinations and aspirations, even after the service year,” Eno said.
Pastor Eno encouraged corps members to utilise the skills they acquired during the orientation course to promote entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
He highlighted the importance of the NYSC scheme in fostering national unity and development, urging the corps members to take their responsibilities seriously.
He urged them to accept their posting in good faith and make efforts to settle down quickly at their places of primary assignment, and warned the corps members not to travel at night, advising that they should only board vehicles at government-approved parks.
Governor Eno reviewed the parade mounted by corps members during the closing ceremony.
