Saturday June 21, 2025|

Nigeria’s Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said more governors from the opposition may soon join the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, following the defection of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno.

Senator Akpabio made this known on Saturday, June 21, while speaking at a reception held to welcome Governor Eno into the APC.

He mentioned that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri might be the next to leave the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the APC.

He praised Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for leaving the PDP and added that the APC had secured victory in Edo State.

Senator Akpabio stated that he believes the entire South-South will rally behind President Bola Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 general election.

He said the people of Akwa Ibom are pleased with Governor Eno’s defection and are fully behind him.
