The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has declared that the force is not retreating in the face of insecurity but is instead reinforcing and ready to respond with strategy and speed, The GUARDIAN reports.
“To those who threaten the peace of this country, our message is simple: we are coming for you strategically, swiftly, and without hesitation,” Egbetokun warned. “These assets are not just machines, they are declarations of purpose.”
He described the event as more than a ceremonial commissioning but a strategic declaration of the force’s readiness to tackle Nigeria’s evolving security challenges head-on.
The IGP unveiled 40 Panthera Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), three MRAP APCs, four Sino Trucks Anti-Riot Water Cannons, and three Anti-Riot Deployment Barriers assets to be deployed across all states, including the Federal Capital Territory.
“This agenda is not aspirational, it is operational,” he stated, emphasising the police’s commitment to building a technology-driven, intelligence-led, and service-oriented force capable of addressing 21st-century policing complexities.
