Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has assured organisers of the 2025 Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) competition of a security-tight atmosphere.
Mutfwang also reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to develop sports infrastructure and improve economic activities across the state.
The governor made this known yesterday while receiving a delegation from Chairman Royal CBS Group, Khalifah Onu, and his team, who are NUGA consultants.
According to him, under his leadership, the state is committed to ensuring adequate security and logistical support during and after the upcoming NUGA 2025 games to guarantee a successful hosting of the tournament.
“We will ensure a secure and enabling environment for athletes and officials. Our goal is not only to successfully host the event but also to use it as a platform to promote hospitality and position Plateau as a hub for sports tourism,” the governor said.
He added that the state is already in touch with the University of Jos to facilitate preparations and ensure the smooth execution of the games.
“I guarantee you that we are committed to working with all stakeholders to deliver on this mandate and transform sports into a tool for youth empowerment,” he stated.
Also, he assured participants that the state government would provide financial support and collaborate with partners to showcase the tournament as a platform for Nigerian youths to compete and excel at national and global levels.
He further disclosed that discussions are ongoing to build synergy among relevant departments and agencies, and he has directed the General Manager of the Plateau State Tourism Corporation to lead efforts towards delivering successful outcomes from the games.
In his response, Khalifah Onu thanked the governor for the support and his readiness to provide an enabling environment for the games to be hosted.
According to him, the games will not only succeed but also align with the current administration’s vision of youth empowerment through sports, tapping into its massive value chain in the country, he said.
