Elder Ekefre Says Uyo People Should Not Fight Enobong Uwa, Backs Governor Umo Eno’s APC Movement

Monday June 16, 2025|

Caucus member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Elder Enefiok Ekefre has outlined reasons why the good people of Uyo should not fight the adoption of the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah as the Leader of the APC in Uyo.

Ekefre who was the Pioneer Uyo Chapter Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and erstwhile Honourorary Special Adviser to then Governor Udom Emmanuel on Grassroots Mobilisation dropped the hint while fielding questions during an exclusive interview with newsmen also justified Governor Umo Eno’s movement to the APC, arguing that the crisis-ridden PDP no longer offered a stable platform for him to seek reelection.

According to Elder Ekefre, the adoption of Prince Enobong Uwah was a consensus by the people of Uyo as he did not campaign for it. He stated that despite his only joining the APC recently, he remains the highest political office holder and first Uyo indigene to occupy the exalted office of SSG.

Ekefre said Uyo people can not fight their son but rally around him to ensure he succeeds while equally defending him from any attacks that emerge to subvert his position in the government.

On the defection of Governor Umo Eno to the APC, Elder Ekefre said there is nothing wrong with that as Pastor Umo Eno has already stated the reason why he moved.

“The Governor is right to move to any Political Party of his interest. Given the present situation of PDP at the National, the governor told us the reason for his defection. He said he does not want to lose his second term ambition on the ground of the ongoing problem in PDP, where there are different factions at the National leadership of the Party. According to him, he doesn’t know who the National Chairman or Secretary is. If one of the factional Secretaries signs a letter to INEC and the other person goes to Court, the letter becomes invalid. So, he doesn’t want to gamble and take chances for it. He is in order not to take unnecessary risks that can jeopardise his work,” Ekefre said.
