The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced it will commence the nationwide distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel on 15th August 2025, ARISE News reports.
The supply will target petrol marketers, fuel station operators, manufacturers, telecommunications firms, aviation companies, and other large-scale fuel consumers.
As part of the distribution plan, the refinery has procured 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers to support fuel delivery across the country. In addition, it is setting up CNG stations, also known as daughter booster stations, supported by a fleet of over 100 CNG tankers to enhance reach.
According to the company, logistics will be provided at no cost to buyers purchasing directly from the refinery. A credit facility will also be made available to customers purchasing a minimum of 500,000 litres, with an additional 500,000 litres offered on credit for two weeks, subject to a bank guarantee.
The scheme is open to filling station operators and players in key sectors, including manufacturing and telecommunications. Buyers must register and complete a Know Your Customer (KYC) verification process. The registration period will run from 16th June to 15th August 2025.
The company, in a statement released on Sunday, said that the programme is intended to address fuel supply gaps, facilitate product access across regions, and reduce distribution costs. It also indicated that the move is in line with broader government initiatives, including the Naira-for-Crude scheme and other downstream sector reforms.
The statement read, “This strategic programme is part of our broader commitment to eliminating logistics costs, enhancing energy efficiency, promoting sustainability and supporting Nigeria’s economic development. It affirms our dedication to improving the availability and affordability of fuel, in support of broader efforts to strengthen the economy and improve the well-being of all Nigerians.”
“This pioneering effort marks a major milestone in our vision to revolutionise Nigeria’s energy sector. Dangote Refinery is dedicated to ensuring that no place is left behind. Our goal is to provide equitable access to affordable fuel for all Nigerians, regardless of location, making energy more accessible and sustainable for everyone, wherever they may be.
“It is expected to revitalise previously inactive petrol stations, thereby driving job creation, stimulating small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), increasing government revenue, improving fuel access in rural and underserved communities, and strengthening investor confidence in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector,” it further added.
