FRSC Probes Fatal Crash That Killed 22 Kano Athletes

Tuesday June 3, 2025|

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has opened an inquiry into the tragic accident that claimed the lives of 22 Kano state athletes and officials. They were returning from the 2025 National Sports Festival held in Ogun State.

The fatal crash occurred in Dakatsalle as the group made their way home after representing Kano at the national event.

This information came from the FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, conveyed by the Zonal Commanding Officer in Kaduna, Assistant Corps Marshal Ahmed Umar. Umar spoke during a condolence visit to the Kano State Government House.

“Road traffic crashes don’t just happen; they usually occur because of human error, or environmental reasons or a mechanical failure,” Umar explained during the visit.

He promised the state government that the results of the investigation would be shared as soon as they are ready.

On receiving the delegation, Kano State Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo expressed gratitude to the FRSC for their prompt response.
