The Akwa Ibom governor, Pastor Umo Eno has directed the deployment of 31 teachers to rural areas to facilitate computer literacy programmes.
Pastor Umo Eno gave the directive, Thursday, during a special media interaction with journalists at the Akpan Isemin Hall, Government House, Uyo, while reacting to a question about the possibility of rural dwellers to be able to access the employment portal of the State government.
Governor Eno said the move was to provide opportunity for those in the rural communities to facilitate computer literacy programmes, stressing the need for rural dwellers to join the trend of technology and computer literacy to enable them to access the various portals created by government.
Talking rural development, which has formed a major focus of his administration, Eno pledged to continuously drive grassroots infrastructural growth to enhance connectivity with the urban areas.
Pastor Eno noted that the Ministry of Agriculture has given out seedlings to farmers across the State, expressing optimism that the price of staple food will reduce in due course.
The governor, while responding to a question touching on the power sector, acknowledged power as an enabler of economic development, revealing that the State government was working with power experts to address electricity challenges bedeviling the State, while reassuring the people of the federal government’s willingness to help in the revitalisation of Ibom Deep Seaport.
Governor Eno acknowledged the contributions of his team to the success of his administration, while urging the media community to always report professionally to promote the State, through constructive criticisms.
