NPFL: Heartland, Akwa United Relegated As Season Ends On Dramatic Note

Heartland and Akwa United have been relegated from the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.

The two clubs will feature in the Nigeria National League, NNL, next season alongside Sunshine Stars and Lobi Stars.

Heartland and Akwa United head into their clash at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri on Sunday needing a win, and result elsewhere to be in their favour.

The hosts won the encounter 2-1 but finished the season in 17th position.

It marks the Naze Millionaires fourth relegation in the last decade.

It’s the first time Akwa United will be relegated from the NPFL.
