Nigerian Air Force Celebrates 61st Anniversary With Aerial Show In Lagos

Saturday May 24, 2025|

The skies over Lagos lit up on Friday as the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) staged a breathtaking aerial display to commemorate its 61st anniversary.

From the rooftop of Eko Hotel, guests — including Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, foreign air chiefs, and international delegates — watched as NAF pilots dazzled with a series of precision maneuvers and coordinated formations, showcasing the might and agility of Nigeria’s air power.

The event, which also served as part of the African Air Forces Forum (AAFF), featured a fleet of aircraft slicing through the Lagos skyline in a show of skill, discipline, and technological capability.

Organizers say the display not only marked a milestone in NAF’s history but also reaffirmed its commitment to defending Nigeria’s airspace and supporting regional stability.

The AAFF, held in conjunction with the anniversary celebrations, offered military leaders from across the continent a platform to exchange ideas, strengthen cooperation, and chart strategies to tackle shared security threats.

With 61 years of service behind it, the Nigerian Air Force continues to play a critical role in national defense, counterterrorism, and humanitarian efforts — a legacy further amplified by Friday’s powerful airborne tribute.
