The Super Eagles of Nigeria have announced a 25-man squad for the 2025 Unity Cup Tournament scheduled to take place at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, West London.
Head Coach Eric Chelle unveiled the list, which features a blend of foreign-based stars and promising homegrown talents. Notably absent from the lineup are marquee players Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.
Veteran players like Moses Simon (FC Nantes), Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City), and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali (Chippa United) headline the squad, while Ahmed Musa (Kano Pillars) makes a return.
Several Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) players also received call-ups, including Junior Harrison Nduka (Remo Stars), Ifeanyi Onyebuchi (Enugu Rangers), and Waliu Ojetoye (Ikorodu City).
The Unity Cup will see Nigeria compete against Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago. The tournament begins on May 27 with Jamaica facing Trinidad & Tobago, while Nigeria will rekindle its historic football rivalry with Ghana on May 28. The final and third-place matches are scheduled for May 31.
Coach Chelle expressed confidence ahead of the tournament, stating, “We’re looking forward to taking part in the Unity Cup, as it will give us the chance to try out a few new players in different roles, helping us to strengthen our squad before the matches in September and October.”
Additionally, Chelle named a 21-man squad for a high-profile international friendly against Russia on June 6 at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium.
The friendly list includes Unity Cup selections alongside returnees such as captain William Troost-Ekong, Olaoluwa Aina, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and striker Victor Boniface.
