The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said it will release the results of 379,997 candidates who were forced to retake the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) following what it described as a series of technical and human errors.
The board’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, disclosed on Monday, May 19, that the results would be made public on Wednesday, days after the rescheduled exams were conducted between Friday and Monday. “The results of the candidates who took the rescheduled exam will be released on Wednesday,” he confirmed.
The decision to organize a retake came after widespread outcry over distorted scores and mass failure, especially in examination centers located in Lagos and across the Southeast. JAMB, under intense public scrutiny, acknowledged the anomalies and admitted responsibility.
According to the registrar of the board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, a total of 206,610 candidates in Lagos and 173,387 in the Southeast were impacted by what he referred to as a deliberate act of “sabotage.”
Oloyede, in a visibly emotional appearance, accepted full responsibility for the technical failure and assured candidates they would be informed of their rescheduled dates via SMS notifications starting last Thursday.
