Tuesday May 20, 2025 |

Akwa Ibom State’s Commissioner for Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, visited the Abeokuta Sports Club to cheer on the state’s dart players during their matches on Monday, May 19.

Joined by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Rosemary Ubia, the Commissioner delivered a goodwill message from the state’s Governor and expressed pride in the athletes’ performance and conduct.

“I’m here to support you, and I promise—if you make Akwa Ibom smile, we’ll make you smile in return,” Bassey said to the team, as he offered words of encouragement ahead of their matches.

During the visit, Mrs. Ubia even joined in a fun moment with the team by taking a free throw while they were still warming up.

Earlier in the day, the Commissioner also visited other venues to boost the morale of Team Akwa Ibom across multiple sports.
