Kaduna Governor Uba Sani has declared that no administration in Nigeria’s history has invested in agriculture like President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government in the past two years, DailyTRUST reports.
Speaking during the distribution of presidential palliative relief materials at the Umaru Yarádua Conference Centre on Sunday, May 11, the governor said Tinubu’s interventions have significantly reduced poverty in the North.
“The poverty rate in Northern Nigeria, especially the North-West, was between 65% and 70%. In the last two years, President Tinubu has made strategic interventions beyond palliatives—deep structural support,” he stated.
Sani highlighted massive support for smallholder farmers, fertilizer aid, and non-partisan monetary backing for states as part of Tinubu’s agricultural reforms. He credited these efforts with tackling infrastructure deficits, creating jobs, and reducing poverty.
He urged all tiers of government to support the President’s grassroots development vision, stressing that local government autonomy is critical in combating poverty and unemployment.
“All 23 local government chairmen in Kaduna are here today. They are the real drivers of this initiative. Without empowering them, our efforts against poverty will fall short,” he said.
