The member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency and Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement, Representative Unyime Idem, has received a National Outstanding Award as ‘Vanguard of Good Leadership and Epitome of Hope’, by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

The award, according to NANS, is in “recognition of your commitment to Youth Empowerment, Passion to Humanity, Educational Transformation and your contribution towards the upliftment of the downtrodden in Nigeria.”

Presenting the award to Representative Idem, in his office at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, the leader of the delegation and the Secretary General of NANS, Comrade Shedrach Anzuke, commended the federal lawmaker for being exceptional in the discharge of his legislative responsibilities, in the National Assembly and in his Federal Constituency.

“You were nominated for this award following your achievements, which are very evident for everyone to see and feel. Your interventions in education, human capacity building, ICT, agriculture, entrepreneurship, among others, are matchless.”

Responding, Representative Unyime Idem, congratulated the NANS executives following their emergence in the just concluded elections, and thanked them for identifying his efforts at touching the lives of his constituents and indigenes of Akwa Ibom state.

“Let me commend your efforts in sustaining NANS. NANS is the apex students body that has the mandate to champion the course of the common people in the country.”

“Do not misuse this privilege. Don’t get carried away by the privileges of this office. It is just a vehicle to take you to where you’re going in life. Don’t lose focus on your education. Consider yourselves highly privileged to be saddled with this huge responsibility of piloting the affairs of students nationwide. I urge you to utilize this opportunity judiciously for the benefit of mankind.”

Other members of the NANS leadership in the delegation were Financial Secretary, Jeremiah Friday and the Treasurer, Heritage Akan, who is from Akwa Ibom state.
