NIMC Adjusts Fees For Identity Services, Cites Rising Costs

The National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, has announced an immediate revision of its service charges after a comprehensive review aimed at aligning fees with current operational costs, ThePUNCH reports.

The adjustment, disclosed in a statement by the Head of NIMC’s Corporate Communications Unit, Kayode Adegoke, on Thursday, May 1, marks the first change in pricing in over a decade.

The agency did not disclose details of the previous or revised charges but said the updated prices would be published on its website, Friday

The regulator emphasised that the revised fees are designed to maintain the quality and integrity of its identity management services while ensuring affordability and accessibility for Nigerians.

Part of the statement read, “After a decade of maintaining the same pricing structure, NIMC has conducted a comprehensive review to ensure alignment with current operational costs and industry standards.”

It added, “The revised pricing structure aims to maintain the quality and integrity of NIMC’s services while ensuring affordability and accessibility for Nigerians. The new prices will take effect immediately.”

Further, NIMC issued a stern warning to all front-end partners to strictly adhere to the new pricing structure. Any partner found charging above the approved rates will face severe sanctions, including the potential revocation of their licenses.

The commission urged the public to report any violations to its Inspectorate and Enforcement Unit via email at ieu@nimc.gov.ng or by calling 08155015388.

The updated pricing structure is now available on the NIMC’s official website, www.nimc.gov.ng, ensuring transparency for all Nigerians and stakeholders. The commission encouraged the public to visit the site for detailed information on the new rates.

The Director-General and CEO of NIMC, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, expressed gratitude to Nigerians, sister agencies, and partners for their continued support.

She extended special appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, harmonisation partners, and the management and staff of NIMC for their contributions to building a robust national identity system.
