The Federal Government has finalised arrangements to commence payment of the outstanding five-month N35,000 wage award arrears to civil servants.
This was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), in Abuja.
According to the statement, the government had previously disbursed five months’ worth of the wage award in instalments. The remaining arrears will now be paid in monthly tranches of N35,000 over a five-month period.
The OAGF clarified that the first of these payments will be made following the disbursement of April 2025 salaries.
“The wage award arrears will not be paid together with the April 2025 salary; it will be paid immediately afterwards,” the statement noted.
The Office reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to implementing all agreements and policies relating to staff welfare and remuneration, with a view to improving workforce morale and enhancing overall productivity.
