The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, says contrary to insinuations in some quarters, it has never had any disagreement with the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, since its formal registration as the second labour centre in Nigeria, twenty years ago.
TUC President, Festus Osifo, backed by former TUC Presidents, gave the clarification at the 20th Anniversary Dinner, where Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno was honoured as the most labour friendly governor, alongside AIT’s Abulu Osemuaghu who clinched the most outstanding Labour Reporter of the decade, among other categories.
Recognition was given to deserving employees across the country and lifetime awards were also presented to two former TUC presidents, former Senator Femi Kila and Peter Esele as well as the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno for upholding workers’ welfare.
AIT’s Patrick Abulu Clinched the Most Outstanding Labour journalist of the decade, alongside Friday Okeregbe of Channels TV, Collins Olayinka of Guardian Newspapers and Joke Adisa of TVC.
The leaders talked about the good, bad, and ugly in TUC’s journey to becoming recognised as a labour centre locally and internationally.
