Mr. Nicholas Ukachukwu has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the upcoming Anambra State election, scheduled for November 2025, ParallelFACT News reports.

Ukachukwu clinched the party’s ticket after defeating his closest challenger, Valentine Ozigbo, in the primary election held on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

He secured a total of 1,455 votes, while Ozigbo polled just 67 votes.

With this victory, Ukachukwu will fly the APC flag in what is set to be Nigeria’s next major off-cycle governorship election.

The incumbent governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has already secured the ticket of the state’s ruling party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Speaking after his victory, Ukachukwu expressed confidence in his ability to lead the APC to success at the polls.

“We shall deliver Anambra to the APC,” he said. “One thing I want to say here, nobody has ever won the governorship of Anambra without my support; it has never happened before.

I have been playing godfatherism, but now I want to be the father of the father, no more godfather.”
