The Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency and Chairman, Public Procurement Committee of the House of Representatives, Rep. Unyime Idem has received the “Sir Ahmadu Bello Integrity Legacy Award” in appreciation of his immense contributions towards a united, indivisible Nigeria.

Rep. Idem is also awarded for being a “vanguard for youth emancipation and serving as a bridge for national unity and consensus.”

The latest award, bestowed on him in his office at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, is coming from the Northern Youth Organization of Nigeria.

Receiving the award, Rep. Idem urged Nigerian youths on capacity building and diligence in delivering on their leadership assignments.

“Let me thank you for this recognition today. This is really motivating, especially given your criteria used in selecting the recipients. This gesture is in line with my philosophy that life is not measured by how long one lives but by the impact and the bridges of friendship built in promoting the unity of his or her people.”

“What you’ve done is a huge step to relegating ethnicity and religious considerations to the background. I’m happy that you’re using your platform to promote unity, devoid of any divisive tendencies. I want to charge you to continue to do this. It is a way to bring people together.”

“The youths are the live wire of any nation, and for such nation to develop, priority attention must be given to them. You also have a huge role to play by building capacity, taking up leadership roles, and delivering on those responsibilities. Promotion comes only when you’re faithful to deliver whatever assignment you’re given,” Idem noted.

Earlier in his remarks, the President of the Northern Youth Organization of Nigeria, Dr. Isah Ododo, noted with gratitude the critical role played by the Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Lawmaker in fostering unity of the country through his legislative engagements, adding that his nomination for the recognition followed a meticulous process to choose distinguished Nigerians, who have met all the laid down criteria.

According to Dr. Ododo, “You’re honoured today for championing the course of all Nigerians, irrespective of tribe, religion, political affiliation, and status.”
