SSG Warns Against Disregarding Gov Fubara’s Power As Protesters Destroy Wike’s Thanksgiving Billboards In Rivers

SATURDAY March 15, 2025 |TheNewsDESK

The Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Dr. Tammy Danagogo, has cautioned against interpreting Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s calm and diplomatic approach to governance as a sign of weakness.

His remarks come amid ongoing political tensions and criticism from opponents, particularly the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Danagogo, whose role in Fubara’s administration has been scrutinized—especially regarding his decision to sign a letter inviting lawmakers for a meeting with the governor—defended his actions. Wike had dismissed the letter as “useless.”

Speaking to journalists during the commissioning of Okrika Grammar School, Danagogo clarified that his actions were within his official responsibilities as SSG.

“There was nothing wrong with the SSG writing a letter for an informal meeting,” he stated, emphasizing that such communication fell under his purview.

A lawyer from the Kalabari region, Danagogo also served as SSG during Wike’s second tenure as governor and noted that he performed similar duties under the previous administration.

He stressed that his response was not politically motivated but aimed at addressing misinterpretations of his role.
