A team of special forces from Ondo, Kogi Police commands with tactical and intelligence experts from the Force Headquarters have been deployed in a rescue for the kidnapped Afenifere Youth Council President, Prince Eniola Ojajuni, TheNATION reports.

The team was deployed following a marching order from the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, after he got wind of the incident.

Ojajuni was kidnapped by gunmen at Akuni, a border town between Ondo and Kogi states on February 17. However, news of his abduction only became public over the weekend with a video of him pleading for his life going viral on Monday.

Police sources told our correspondent that no complaint was initiated about the kidnap, adding that the high commands only became aware of it from the viral social media posts.

“Special forces are combing the bushes of Ondo and Kogi. There was an order from the IG that intelligence, technical and tactical experts be deployed alongside operatives of both commands to ensure his safe rescue.

“The Intelligence Response Team (IRT) is also part of the operation and they are doing what they know best to assist ground forces in locating the criminals,” said the source.

Meanwhile, the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum (AYCF) has condemned the abduction of Ojajuni.

It, therefore, called for his release.

In a statement, its President-General, Yerima Shettima, said Ojajuni’s kidnap was worrisome.
