Akwa Ibom state Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, has stressed the importance of traditional institutions in ensuring crime free society.
CP Azare made the remark when he visited the President-General of the Akwa Ibom Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence, Oku Ibom Ibibio, Ntenyin Dr. Solomon Etuk, JP, CFR at his palace.
He gave an assurance that the Command will work closely with the traditional leadership in ensuring a crime-free Akwa Ibom state.
He, therefore, solicited the continued cooperation of the traditional institutions in intelligence sharing and grassroots collaboration in the attainment of the desired goals.
The Police Commissioner gave an assurance that, under his watch, the Command will maintain an open door policy and listen to all forms of opinions and advice in securing the lives and property of the people.
Responding, His Eminence, Ntenyin Dr. Solomon Etuk, JP, CFR, commended CP Azare for his proactive approach to policing since his assumption of office and pledged the full cooperation of the traditional institutions in fostering peace and stability in the state.
A statement issued by the Akwa Ibom state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, said the visit by CP Azare was in line with his efforts to deepen stakeholders engagement to rid the state of criminal elements and sustain the reputation of Akwa Ibom state as the most peaceful state in the country.
