ABUJA: The Accountant General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, has vowed to utilise the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, accounting initiative to boost transparency and ensure zero tolerance for corruption in the country, DailyPost reports.
A statement by the spokesperson to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, said Madein disclosed this while hosting the President of ICAN, Dr. Davidson Alaribe, and his team in her office in Abuja.
She revealed that the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation played a lead role in upholding the accounting profession, stating that about 70 percent of the agency’s workers are accountants.
Madein reiterated that her office will continue to partner with ICAN with a view to showing robust and transparent accounting concepts since the mandates of ICAN and OAGF are common in status.
“I will maintain integrity, ethics, and core values of the accounting profession as well as welcome all criticisms and recognition in the accounting practices”, Madein stated.
On his part, Alaribe, in his earlier address, stated that the courtesy visit is to appreciate the AGF for the suupport she extended to the Institute during the last ICAN Conference.
He acknowledged the pivotal role the Accountant General of the Federation is playing towards shaping the accounting profession, particularly the reactivation of the Federal Treasury Academy in Orozo, Abuja.
