IGP Kayode Egbetokun Orders Police Officers To Stop Wearing Dark Glasses With Uniform

The Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has ordered police personnel to immediately refrain from wearing dark glasses while in uniform.

According to Sahara Reporters, the directive was contained in a wireless message dated Tuesday, January 21, 2025, and addressed to all zonal and state commands in the police force.

The police wireless message titled CB:4001/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOL.121/104 said violation of the direction will attract severe sanctions.

It reads: INGENPOL has observed with concern x prevalent practice of personnel wearing dark glasses while in uniform x this attitude reflects poorly on the Force x deemed unacceptable x consequently x INGENPOL directs that henceforth x all police personnel x should refrain from wearing dark glasses x while in uniform x violation of this directive will attract severe disciplinary action x you are to make this subject of lecture x.
