The Akwa Ibom State government-owned airline, IbomAir, has reaffirmed its commitment to boosting tourism and positioning the state as a top destination.
Pastor Imo-Abasi Jacob, Chairman of IbomAir, made this statement on Saturday, December 7, 2024, during the “Christmas Unplugged 2.0” festival at the Christmas village on Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo.
The chairman expressed his gratitude to stakeholders and residents of Akwa Ibom for attending the celebration and making IbomAir’s special day a success. He highlighted the increasing number of travelers flying into Uyo via IbomAir to partake in the Christmas festival and commended Governor Umo Eno for his efforts in promoting tourism in the state.
Pastor Jacob stated, “It gives me great pleasure to welcome all of you to IbomAir’s day at the Christmas village. I can confidently say that we are here to offer you an experience that only IbomAir can provide.”
He emphasized the airline’s role in connecting people from various locations to Akwa Ibom, making the state a prime destination. He added, “IbomAir is here tonight to express the spirit of Christmas by giving back to society. We are giving back to our stakeholders and sharing this celebration with all of you.”
Pastor Jacob also thanked Governor Umo Eno for creating the Christmas experience in the state and praised the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh, for enhancing the celebration.
The event was filled with talent shows, music, and dance performances, including a performance by Niger Delta artist Timaya, who entertained the crowd with his popular songs. Additionally, the event featured the presentation of prizes to three winners of the tech challenge held during the 2024 “Ibom Tech Week,” organized by the Ibom Innovation Network and sponsored by Ibom Air.
The second edition of “Christmas Unplugged,” organized by the State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, was officially opened the previous Sunday by Governor Umo Eno at Unity Park.
