Akwa Ibom Police Rescue Lawyer, Niece From Kidnappers’ Den |SituationReport: Idorenyin UMOREN, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief|

By Our Crime Correspondent

Akwa Ibom State Police Command has rescued a lawyer and his niece from kidnappers.

The victims were rescued when operatives of the Command stormed an underground tunnel in a forest, where the victims were held hostage, according to a trending video.

The operatives, acting on a tip-off, closed in on the place where the lawyer and his niece were kept and strenuously lifted a slab which was rolled over them by their captors, to bring them out of the tunnel.

“Come out all of you, you are saved in Jesus name,” a Police officer’s voice could be heard saying during the rescue operation.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Akwa Ibom State Command, ASP Timfon John, confirmed the development, adding that the victims are undergoing medical examination.

“There was rescue oppression by the Command, which was very successful. The victims are undergoing medical examination,” she said.
