Enyimba International FC extended their winless streak to six games after a thrilling 2-2 draw with Egyptian giants Zamalek in their CAF Confederation Cup Group D clash on Sunday at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Zamalek took control of the game in the first half, with Jaziri S. opening the scoring in the 33rd minute after a defensive lapse by the hosts.

The visitors doubled their advantage in the 40th minute when Faraj O. capitalized on a quick counterattack to make it 2-0.

The People’s Elephant found a lifeline just before halftime as Ihemekwele I. reduced the deficit with a crucial goal in the 45+4 minute, igniting hopes of a comeback among the home fans.

Enyimba’s determination paid off in the second half when Ufere C. scored the equalizer in the 57th minute, tapping home from close range after sustained pressure on Zamalek’s defense.

Despite late efforts from both sides, neither team could find a winner.

The result leaves Enyimba third in Group D with just one point from two games, adding pressure on the Nigerian champions as they aim to secure qualification to the knockout stages.

Meanwhile, Zamalek remain unbeaten in the group, keeping their hopes alive for a strong finish.

Enyimba’s winless run in all competitions continues to be a cause for concern, as they struggle to find the form that saw them dominate the Nigerian league last season.

Their next group fixture is a must-win encounter to keep their CAF Confederation Cup campaign alive.
