Etieno Ibanga, a broadcast journalist with the Nigerian Television Authority, has been honoured with the Best Staff Award for November 2024 by the management and staff of NTA Channel 12, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The award was bestowed on Ibanga by the General Manager of NTA Uyo, Mrs Alice Ugbe, during an enlarged management meeting held on December 2, 2024.

Speaking at the brief event, the General Manager said the institution of the monthly award is to encourage staff and boost their productivity, as a well-motivated workforce enhances efficiency.

Mrs Ugbe noted that NTA Uyo recognises the contributions of staff towards achieving organisational objectives and congratulated the recipient, Etieno Ibanga, for his passion, dedication, and commitment to service excellence, which resulted in the honour.

The letter read: “I wish to inform you that the News and Current Affairs Department has selected you as the best staff in the News and Current Affairs Department for the month of November, 2024.”

The GM extended management congratulations to Ibanga on his outstanding performance and hoped that the recognition will spur him to attain greater heights in his assigned duties for the attainment of the organisational goals.

Responding, the award recipient, Etieno Ibanga, expressed surprise that his modest contributions had been acknowledged by the station, resulting in the award.
He expressed appreciation to God for standing by him in the discharge of his responsibilities.

The Ukanafun-born broadcast journalist said, “I am deeply humbled and grateful to receive this prestigious award. I want to express my sincere appreciation to the NTA management for this recognition. I would like to dedicate this award to my colleagues, mentors, and family members who have supported me throughout my journey. Your guidance, encouragement, and hard work have been instrumental in my success.”_

Ibanga, a member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), said, “This award is not just a recognition of my own efforts, but also a testament to the hard work and dedication of journalists and media professionals who strive to uphold the highest standards of ethics and professionalism in our industry.

The Assistant Director of News, NTA Uyo, Oku Ekpenyong, and the Assistant Manager of News, Evelyn Badooh Ekpo, in their separate remarks, applauded the management for the award, describing the honour bestowed on Etieno Ibanga as deserving, and expressing optimism that the honour will spur him to do more in the years ahead.
