Late First Lady: Akwa Ibom Women Condole Gov Eno, Family |SituationReport By Idorenyin UMOREN, Uyo|

As the first family of Akwa Ibom State, and the State in general, intensify preparations for the home going of the late First Lady, Pastor (Mrs) Patience Umo Eno, the women of the State under the three senatorial district women fora have registered their condolences over the loss.


In their separate remarks while on a condolence visit to Governor Umo Eno in Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, the leaders for Uyo, Eket and Ikot Ekpene Senatorial Districts, Mrs. Ekaette Ebong Okon, Mrs Idara Ephraim and Mrs Inibehe Silas, said the news of the First Lady’s demise shattered the women, but expressed hope that God has rested her soul.

They assured that they were prepared to work with the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Mrs Helen Eno Obareki to further the programmes and activities of the late mother of the State.

On her part, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr. Ini Adiakpan, said they were completely broken and shocked when the news came, but expressed gratitude to God for strengthening the Governor and the first family.

Addressing the women, Mrs Obareki appreciated the leadership and all women across the State for their love and support saying, “I look forward to working with all of you for the good of Akwa Ibom women and all, through the Golden Initiatives for All (GIFA).

The Governor, Pastor Umo Eno also appreciated the women and urged them to remain united, and assured that the women will continue to have their rightful place in his administration, especially as most of the components of the ARISE Agenda have both direct and indirect impacts on the women.
