Senator Aniekan Bassey Senator has expressed his commitment to encouraging effective teaching and academic excellence through his Back-to-School initiative.
A statement issued to newsmen on Sunday, November 17, 2024, in Uyo, said the Senator representing Akwa Ibom North-East (Uyo) Senatorial District, spoke weekend while donating educational materials, including textbooks, school bags, Desktop computers to primary and secondary schools selected from the local government areas in the senatorial district.
The statement which was signed by the media unit Akwa Ibom Northeast senatorial district noted that the materials were donated the materials through the senator’s pet project, “RHAB-YESS Foundation”, adding that the empowerment effort was supervised by the Project Development Institute (PRODA).
According to the statement, Senator Bassey, who was represented by Obong Godwin Awah, explained that the initiative complements Governor Umo Eno’s effort in the education sector.
“Investing in education is an investment in the future of our children, our communities, and our nation. And I will continue to provide resources to aid learning and inspire students in their academic pursuits through my Pet project”, He assured.
It listed names of the benefiting schools to include Christ the King International School, Brooks Street (Uyo), Government Primary School, Adadia/Ekim Enen (Uruan), St. Luke’s Lutheran School, Ibiaku Itam I (Itu), Atakpo Community Secondary School, Mbiaya-Uruan (Uruan), Salvation Army School, Ekom Iman (Etinan), Itreto Community Secondary School, Ikot Okobo (Nsit Ubium).
Others mentioned were Community Secondary School, Afia Nsit Urua Nko (Nsit Ibom), St. Paul’s Lutheran School, Mbikpong Ikot Edim (Ibesikpo Asutan), Secondary Community School, Iwawa Usung Eket (Ibesikpo Asutan), Migrants Secondary School, Ibakang Nsit (Nsit Atai), and Presbyterian School, Mbiabong Edem Edik (Ibiono Ibom).
“Among the educational materials donated during the event were textbooks, exercise books, school bags, whiteboards, desks, chairs, mathematical sets, laptops, desktop computers, and other classroom essentials”
“Coordinator of the back-to-school initiative, Desmond Etim explained that the resources, especially the Computers systems, will enhance teaching and learning in the schools. He noted that thousands of students across Akwa Ibom North-east are expected to benefit from the initiative”, it said.
