Port Harcourt Helicopter Crash: Preliminary Report Of Accident Would Be Out In 30 Days – NSIB

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, NSIB, has said that the circumstances surrounding the crash the Sikorsky SK76 helicopter from its destination in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Thursday, remain unknown.

The bureau said that a preliminary report of the accident would be out within 30 days.

The accident occurred at 11:22 a.m. along the waterways.

The Sikorsky SK76 with registration 5NBQG, which was operated by East Wind Aviation, was en route from Port Harcourt Military Base (DNPM) to the Nuimantan oil rig.

NSIB Director General, Alex Badeh Jnr, told Channels Television that the helicopter crashed one kilometre to its destination.

He said, “The circumstances surrounding the crash remained unknown, a preliminary report of the accident would be out within 30 days.”

A total of eight persons were confirmed on board, but three bodies have been recovered.
